July 24, 2025
6:00pm - 9:00pm AEST
(UTC +10hrs)
Daylesford, Victoria
Australia
This event is invite-only.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

I’m 15 years old, and have lived in Glenlyon for most of my life. Outside of school, I train and volunteer with St John Ambulance, work part-time at a supermarket, play the violin, swim, enjoy outdoor adventure sports, and focus on my studies. I can honestly say that volunteering has been one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences I’ve ever had. The people I’ve met, the places I’ve been, and the skills I’ve learned have all been incredibly valuable and eye-opening.

I am 14 and grew up and live in Ballan. I have chosen to do this Tedx talk because I believe it is important to share perspectives and ideas and to take every good opportunity that comes my way.

Having been to six schools in my time, I have come to realise that a lot can be done in our education system to better support students and help them to achieve their goals. School "avoidance" is a large and growing concern in the Australian school system. Many students in the school avoidance community are neurodiverse or suffer from anxiety often due to negative experiences at school. I believe we need to change the mass "one size fits all" mentality. I'm 15 years old and live in Woodend with my mum and two older sisters. I am autistic and can see things in a unique way. I can see when other people are struggling (as an empath). But I am also very sensitive, awkward and I struggle with anxiety. I chose to talk about this because I think a lot can be done to improve acceptance and understanding of people like myself that struggle with mental health within the environment of the school setting.

I am 14 and live in a small town, Wheatsheaf, where I've grown up and lived all my life. My hobbies include playing sport, drawing and dancing. I chose to do this talk because it means a lot to me and is a great opportunity to share my ideas.

I grew up around video games and recently started learning how to make them. Games and how they are made are a very important part of my life. Good game design is built on three principles: fun, balance and coherence. I am a year twelve student at Daylesford Secondary College and my hobbies are reading, writing, playing bass and playing video games.

My idea is about perseverance; having a goal and seeing it through because reward comes through effort over time and the wonderful feeling of achieving something you've persisted with and worked hard for.

Throughout the years, the art and illustration industry has been a predominantly male role, however in recent times women have taken the stand to make a change and an influence society through their art and how they have been affected by patriarchal values in their daily lives. In history as well, as through feminism, women challenge traditional and historical representations of them to aim for a more equal and inclusive art world for everyone. As an artist myself, I seek to explore this within my own art. I love to paint and draw, I love to read and listen to music. I believe myself to be a kind and positive person who is very family oriented and who would like to inspire people and make them smile.
